The Barn House takes a simple form and extrudes linearly along the site. Distinctly separate, a glazed flat roof walkway connects the two forms. Both forms and links frame an internal courtyard. The orientation of the house was decided to allow the long face to enjoy the view of the wild, grassy rolling hills of the landscape beyond. The garage house is oversized to accommodate storage and a carpool to shelter visiting vehicles. The main house is separated by a large open, glazed social area featuring the home’s kitchen, dining, and living space. Both exterior glazings can slide open during warmer weather to extend the primary living area to the adjacent outdoors. To the right, the pantry, mud room, offices, bedrooms, and laundry make up the private wing. While the left side features an enclosed entertainment room, main entry, powder room, and guest suite.
